Here are some answers to a few frequent questions we get asked...

 

1) Does the department do security checks?

Yes we do both residential and business security checks. If you plan on being gone more than a few days, it is always a good idea to have it checked. Please contact the police department at least 1 week prior to being gone.


2) Can I get my fingerprint taken at the police department?

Fingerprinting is $10 per card. Stop by the police department to get them done Monday - Friday from 7:00AM - 3:00PM


3) Can I get my registration done at the police department?

Yes, please call the police department at (608) 375-4122 to set up an appointment during Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:00PM.


4) Do you guys do vehicle unlocks?

Yes, the fee is 320. Please have the exact amount with you before calling for a vehicle unlock. A waiver form must be signed by the registered owner of the vehicle.


5) Is there alternate side parking?

Yes,  7.05 (2) CALENDAR RESTRICTED PARKING. For a period of 48 hours beginning at 1 a.m. on any day in which there is a snowfall of 2 or more inches no person shall, during the period beginning November 1 and ending April 1, between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m., park or leave standing on any City street any vehicle on the odd numbered side of the street on an even numbered day of the month, or on the even numbered side of the street on the odd numbered day of the month. For purposes of this section, even numbered days shall be deemed to begin at 9 a.m. on even numbered days and shall end at 9 a.m. on odd numbered days; odd numbered days shall be deemed to begin at 9 a.m. on odd numbered days and end at 9 a.m. on even numbered days. The term odd numbered side of the street means the side of the street on which the last digit of street address house numbers is an odd number; and the term even numbered side of the street means the side of the street on which the last digit of street address house number is an even number. The determination of the depth of any snowfall shall be made in the sole discretion of the Director of Public Works and evidence of a lesser depth of snowfall at any place within the City is deemed irrelevant

 

6) I have information about someone using drugs, who do I contact?

We are happy that you are turning that information in. Please contact the Boscobel Police Dept. by either calling or emailing us. You may remain anonymous if you want.

 

7) I don't believe I should have received a ticket, what can I do?

If you received a ticket, the best thing to do is not to get abusive or argumentative. If an officer has written you a ticket, it cannot be voided at that time. If you think it was a mistake or believe that you are innocent, you will need to protest in court on the given date. The court date and time should be on the top left of the ticket.

 

8) Can I get a copy of my drivers record?

We will not provide you with a copy of your drivers record. If you wish to obtain a copy, you will need to contact the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

 

9) What is the curfew hours for the City of Boscobel?

No person under the age of 18 years to congregate, loiter, wander,  stroll, stand or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or any public places in the City of Boscobel, either on foot or in or upon any conveyance being driven or parked thereon, between the hours of 11:00PM and 5:00AM. of the following day, official City time, unless accompanied and supervised by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having his or her care, custody or control.

** Any parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of a person under the age of 18 years to suffer or permit or by inefficient control to allow any such minor to congregate, loiter, wander, stroll, stand or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or any public places in the City of Boscobel between the hours of ll:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following day, official City time, unless the minor is accompanied by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having his or her care, custody or control; provided that any parent, guardian or other adult person herein who shall have made a missing person notification to the police department shall not be considered to have suffered or permitted any minor to be in violation of this section.
